  1. General Admission Requirements
  2. A senior secondary school certificate (SSCE), (WAEC or NECO) or GCE O’ level with passés in five subjects including English language, three of which must be at credit level at one sitting or five credits at two sittings. Two of the credits must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer credit/merits in English language and/or mathematics may be required in some courses.
  3. A Grade II Teacher Certificate (TC II) with credits or merit in three subjects, two of which must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer. Credit/merit in English language and/or Mathematics may be required in some courses.
  4. For candidates wishing to offer courses in vocational and technical education, RSA or city and guilds intermediate certificate with the federal craft training center with credit/merit in at least four subjects are acceptable or a NABTEB certificate.
  5. Associate ship certificate in education awarded by an approved institution in Nigeria or abroad, is also an acceptable qualification.
  6. Acceptable level of performance in relevant PRE NCE programme/interim joint matriculation board (IJMB) examination.
  7. It should be noted that some colleges may in addition to all above, administer their own elimination tests and/or interviews for some courses. This is legitimate.
  8. a credit pass in IJMB special Maths.
  9. Additional Requirements

Candidates seeking admission into NCE in Mathematics should obtain a credit or merits pass in Mathematics in any of the following examinations.(i) SSCE (WAEC/NECO). (ii)GCE ‘O Level (iii) TC III (iv) PRE-NCE (v) Interim Joint Matriculation Board (vi)NABTEB

Education        – 36 credits

Mathematics   – 36 credits

Second Teaching subject – 36 credits

Teaching practice       – 06 credits

General Studies – 18 credits

Total        – 132 credits

  1. Teaching practice

Every student is required to successfully complete teaching practice for a period of 12 weeks. The credit earned is recorded in EDU 324. Teaching practice earns 6 credits

  1. Final Year Project

Every student is required to write and submit a project in mathematics and the credit is recorded under EDU 323. Projects earn 2 credits

5b. Assessment and Certification

Continuous Assessment Test (CA) = 40% Examination = 60%.
