CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT

  1. Admission Requirements
  2. A senior secondary school certificate (SSCE) of (NECO or WAEC) or GCE ‘O’ Level with passes in 5 subjects including English Language, three of which must be a credit level at the same setting or 4 credits at two of the credits must be relevant to the coerces the candidates wishes to offer credit / passes in English Language and or mathematics may be required.
  3. A Grade II teachers Certificate (TC II) with credit or merit in three subjects, two of which must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer.
  4. A pass in PRE-NCE Chemistry final examination or pass in JAMB Chemistry final examination is required for Admission.
  5. All candidates to be considered for admission must enroll for and write the selection examination organized by an accredited body such JAMB.
  6. It should be noted that some College in addition to all of the above, administer their own elimination test or interviews for some courses. This is legitimate.
  7. Graduation Requirements

Every student is required to carry a minimum of 128 credits and maximum of 130 credits to graduate. The breakdown is as follows:

Chemistry                   – 36 Credits

Second Teaching Subject- 36 Credits

Education                   – 36 Credits

General Studies         – 18 Credits

Teaching Practice     – 06 Credits

  1. Teaching practice

Teaching practice is compulsory for all the final year students. The project maybe written in any of the subjects offered by the students and credited to EDU 323. A project earns 2 credits.
